I feel like typing in Urdu:
رھی نہ گفتہ مرے دل میں، داستاں میری۔
نہ اِس دیار میں سمجھا، کوئ زباں میری۔
اُسی سے دوُر رھا ھوں، اصلی مدعا جو تھا
گئ یہ عمرِعزیزاں، رائگاں میری
نہ اِس دیار میں سمجھا، کوئ زباں میری۔
"My story remained untold in my heart,
no one understood the essence of my words, in this world.
I have stayed far from my real purpose,
my beloved life has gone wasted,
no one understood the essence of my words, in this world"
A piece from Meer Taqi Meer's urdu ghazals.

Really good one, can you translate the complete with meaning below:
ReplyDeleterahi nagufta mere dil mein dastan meri
na is dayar mein samjha koi zaban meri
barang-e-saut-e-jaras tujh se dur hun tanha
khabar nahin hai tujhe ah karwan meri
usi se dur raha asl-e-mudda jo tha
gai ye umr-e-aziz ah rayagan meri
tere firaq mein jaise khayal muflis ka
gai hai fikr-e-pareshan kahan kahan meri
diya dikhai mujhe to usi ka jalwa "Mir"
pari jahan mein ja kar nazar jahan meri
Kya jawaab de koi meer tere dard ka,
DeleteHar dard ek kuhd hi dawa hi tere dard ki...
Dear Nitin, thanks for your comment. I haven't translated Meer's poetry above in the Blog post (I found it online). However, I've tried to translate your request as best as I could:
ReplyDelete"my story remained untold in my heart,
no one understood the essence of my words, in this world.
Like the ringing of your bells, I have drifted far alone
O leaving caravan- you do not know where I am
I have stayed far from my real purpose,
My beloved life has gone wasted.
like thoughts of a desperate soul, in your separation,
my worried mind has wandered every where
Meer, only His glimpse I saw,
Wherever my sight looked, in this world."
I hope it is good enough =)
It's very hard to translate the depth of meaning in such beautiful poetry. Thank you once again for visiting my blog, and I hope we get more visits from you in the future!
Thank you for this beautiful translation. I study urdu and I would like to know whether I can ask you for a translation word to word of the above mentionned text, so that I can understand better how the poetry is crafted... It is very difficult to find a online urdu/persian dictionnary in France...
